Introduction to Equestrian |
|
|
|
|
Equestrianism
The majestic art of horse-riding, driving or vaulting for work,
recreation, cultural or artistic purpose. Equestrianism covers a
vast array of areas but can include dressage, jumping, eventing
(these three being the olympic disciplines), hunting, rodeo,
polo, carriage driving, and racing but to name a few. The most
famous horse race of all time in the UK has to be the Grand
National, with its most famous horse being Red Rum. Red Rum was
a three time winner of this race (1973, 1974 and 1977), and was
buried at the Aintree's racecourse winning post in 1995.
It's unknown when horse-riding was first recorded, but could be
back as far as 4500BC. Horses are beautiful and intelligent
creatures and should be shown a great respect; the risks
involved when dealing with horses can vary, but include injuries
such as fractured arms, head or chest, and the risk of being
trampled. They can be easily spooked by noises and do not like
to be approached from behind. Often when riding for pleasure
horses will be 'blinkered' in order to prevent the horse being
frightened in this way.
As a general note, it's true that horses do enjoy sugar lumps,
polo's and not forgetting the apples and root vegetables; a worthy
treat. |

Specialist Training
Equipment for Equestrian |
|
|
| Most
equestrian competitors get the majority of their training when
riding their horses. The muscles of the legs, hips, stomach,
back, shoulders and back are all used in perfect harmony when
riding a horse. There are many electronic exercise machines on
the market that claim to mimic the movement of a horse. We
prefer to train these muscles in a more natural way. |
|
Core Fitness Training is a
highly effective method of building and maintaining your
specialist poise and balance muscle groups. With training aids
such as
Wobble Boards,
Stability Cushions and
Stability Core Trainer Balls you will be able to train at
home during the winter months. |

 |
These great core fitness training
aids will provide you with a demanding workout, without the need
to be outdoors or in a particularly spacious surrounding.
