Introduction to Gymnastics |
|
|
|
|
Gymnastics
is a broad term for a complete range of physical demonstrations
of the strength, motion and versatility of human movement. There
are many branches under the Gymnastics heading including
Artistic and Graceful and Acrobatic Tumbling, Strength
Demonstrations on Bars, Vaulting Horses and Hanging Rings,
Intricate displays of Balance on the Beam and lets not forget
Trampolining.
Spectators of Gymnastics are treated to a mixture of Wonder,
Immense Pride and, of course, the occasional flash of fear when
a Gymnastic Competitor loses their balance and falls heavily to
the floor. It is no wonder that, given the incredible skill and
heroic daring of these apparently fearless competitors,
Gymnastics has a integral role within every Olympic Games.
The judging of Competitive Gymnastics is also a highly skilled
undertaking. The Judges score is split between the level of
difficulty and the successful execution of the display. The
Gymnast will be awarded a collection of scores, the highest and
the lowest of which are removed, presenting the Gymnast with a
score based on the broadest consensus of opinion. |

bones and muscles a gymnast is still likely to suffer many
injuries in their gymnastic career. Most injuries are minor and
heal relatively quickly, but the drive to get back to training
can be self destructive and therefore should be handled very
carefully with the help of your training coach and your GP.
Note: All injuries should
always be seen by a medical practitioner. |
